8 August 2019 - 10:00am to 4:00pm

The Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) Review Taskforce (the Taskforce) is undertaking a program of work to consider how the more than 5,700 items on the MBS can be aligned with contemporary clinical evidence and practice in order to improve health outcomes for patients.

The Taskforce established the Wound Management Working Group (WMWG) in November 2018 to provide advice regarding wound management based on rapid evidence review and clinical expertise. The WMWG has now reviewed existing MBS items for the management of acute wounds and considered a broad range of issues relating to the management of chronic wounds more broadly.

Consumers are invited to attend a roundtable meeting to discuss options to improve the management of chronic wounds, including the development of an integrated and robust approach to chronic wound management in Australia. The meeting details are as follows;

•             Date: Thursday 8 August 2019

•             Time: 10am to 4pm

•             Venue: Canberra

•             Travel: Please note that the Department of Health will NOT be covering out of pocket cost for meeting attendance.  Travel expenses (flight, parking, taxis) will need to be booked and paid by the consumer attending the roundtable.

A Chronic Wounds Discussion Paper, exploring a number of priorities identified by the WMWG, is available for consideration prior to this meeting.
