The importance of consumer informed healthcare
Partnerships and community lie at the heart of a strong and enduring prevention system that can build and sustain capacity to promote health and prevent illness.
At CHF we advocate for consumer input into all health policy and program design to ensure that Australia's healthcare systems address real-world needs. By incorporating the voices of consumers, we can foster trust in our policy makers and health care system, empower consumers to influence change, and improve the effectiveness and sustainability of our national health systems.
At CHF we are committed to contributing to the success of the National Preventive Health Strategy 2021-2030 by bring the voices of consumers into decision making circles.
We support and align our work to the (draft) National Consumer Engagement Strategy for Health and Wellbeing and use many of the same terms and approaches.
Embracing my identity as an Indigenous disabled health consumer, I navigate a world that often overlooks my voice; through the consumer health forum, I reclaim agency, advocate for holistic care, and celebrate the resilience of my community.
In Australia it is generally accepted as involving consumers, carers and community members being meaningfully involved in decision-making about health policy and planning, care and treatment, and the wellbeing of themselves and the community.
At CHF our vision is for a world class health system centered on consumers and communities.
Impactful consumer engagement requires consumers and the people running engagement processes to be skilled, confident, supported and always feel safe.
