About

The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (the Commission) leads and coordinates national improvements in the safety and quality of health care. Within this overarching purpose the Commission aims to ensure people are kept safe when they receive health care and that they receive the health care they should.

The Commission launched its current website in 2018, and since then a number of changes have taken place including the transition of several websites and digital resources from National Prescribing Service (NPS) MedicineWise.

The Digital Transformation Program has been established to review, consolidate and harmonise the Commission’s overall digital presence. The Program’s goals are to develop a new website for the Commission that combines new and existing features, focuses on users, and improves their digital experience.

The Digital Transformation External Working Group (EWG) will work with external stakeholders to co-design the new website and digital materials, making sure the final product meets user needs and improves the digital journey.

The opportunity and your role

On behalf of the Commission, CHF is seeking two (2) consumers to join the EWG. The EWG will shape the development of the new website, making it easier for people to find and understand information published by the Commission.

The EWG will provide guidance on:

  • How people navigate and use the website

  • Organising information clearly and accessibly

  • Designing a user-friendly look and feel

  • Structuring content so information is consistent and easy to find

  • Making the website simple and intuitive for all users

  • Ensuring digital content meets the needs of those seeking health information

To succeed in this role, you will:

  • Have experience using the Commission’s website and resources

  • Be comfortable navigating digital platforms and providing constructive feedback on website usability

  • Have a reasonable level of digital literacy

  • Have a good understanding of how online information is put together, with knowledge of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design being favourable

  • Be confident in collaborating with government representatives, clinicians, and health sector executives

Members will be appointed from April 2025 to March 2026. The EWG will meet every two months for approximately 2-3 hours per session. Meetings will be a mix of virtual and in-person, though the option of only attending virtually is always available.

The Commission will:

  • Provide orientation and ongoing support to the consumer representatives

  • Remunerate sitting fees for meetings, as well as travel and accommodation costs, to support participation. The sitting fee rates for meetings are:

  • 0-2 hours: $388.40

  • 2-3 hours: $582.60

  • 11.5% superannuation on top of the sitting fees.
