About
Consumers Health Forum of Australia (CHF) regularly recruits consumer representatives for government and other committees. Some opportunities need not only lived, but technical and professional experience, which require well matched and qualified consumer selections.
The purpose of the Independent Review Panel (the Panel) is to assess and recommend consumers for committee roles through a timely, fair, and transparent recruitment process.
The Panel will only be called upon to asses committees with some or all of the following:
Public visibility
Policy impact
Consumer impact, and/or
Strategic national health care influence.
Examples of committees of this kind include, but are not limited to, committees such as Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC), National Safety and Quality in Healthcare Standards Committee (NSQHSC) and others.
Independent members are individuals who are not affiliated with CHF in any capacity. They should have relevant experience, expertise, and be unbiased in the recruitment process.
The opportunity and your role
The Panel’s role includes the following responsibilities:
Reviewing consumer applications and nominations for committee roles
Assessing consumer candidates against a set criteria
Keeping to an impartial and merit-based selection process
Providing feedback and rationale on consumer recommendations when required
Recommending suitable consumer candidates for committees
Recommendations are advisory, to be made to the CHF CEO.
The Panel will meet ad-hoc approximately three to four times per year, with four (4) weeks’ notice given before each meeting for preparation and attendance. Members will be remunerated for their participation based on the standard Commonwealth Remuneration Tribunal rate.
